In this video, I position myself as the object of observation.
Set on a green background, I mimic images of certain characters prevalent in mainstream media. The color green is a meaning loaded color with which I challenge the viewer. Would the object of observation still speak Muslim if the color green was absent from the work?
I play further with this challenge by inserting quick flashes of white painted toy weaponry, with which I half-heartedly reaffirm the suspicions of the viewers but also urge them to turn their suspicions into light-hearted self-mockery.
